Getting Started With Pay-Per-Click Search Engines
Copyright 2002 - by Dan Moses

Have you figured out your Search Engine Strategies yet?

Did you prepare your keyword META Tags?

I'm sure you've already written your Description META
Tag by now.

Have you already picked up the latest copy of Web
Position Gold?

Search Engines...

They are one of the most complicated, time-consuming
marketing techniques online today.

But what if you don't have the time or money to even
think about Search Engines?

Now, as each of you know, there are many different ways
to drive traffic to your website. But in all honesty,
people that find you by using a search engine are 10
times more likely to buy your products than if they
found your web page in a click thru program.

You see, they feel good when they find your website,
like you're some buried treasure. Also, you look like
you know what you're doing.

And isn't that what we all want... a visitor to land
on our page with their wallet open and their credit
card sticking out.

Of course we do. We want our visitors to find exactly
what they need on our website and then provide them
with a valuable product or service.

So, here is the problem...

You don't have the time to study everything you need
to know to get a great search engine listing.

Or...

Your not in a position to pay someone to do it for you.

Just the other day I received a phone call from a web
positioning company (a.k.a search engine guru) that
wanted to sell me a position for 16 guaranteed top ten
listings.

Can you believe they wanted to charge me $3,200 dollars?

Wow! You'd better hope your website makes a great profit
if your going to budget that into your business.

But the bottom line is, you need targeted search engine
traffic. So, where are you going to get it without having
to pay an arm and a leg for it?

Did you just say, "Pay-Per-Click"?

You're right! The answer is Pay-Per-Click search engines,
but again you have to have an idea of what your doing.

So, that's where I'm going to help you out, but first
let's get a firm understanding of how the Pay-Per-Click
(PPC) search engines work.

PPC search engines allow you to bid on keywords that relate
to your website(s). What you do is submit your website's
description and title, along with a list of keywords to
the engine. You also need to specify the amount of money
that you're willing to spend on each keyword.

After a PPC search engine processes your request, your
results start showing up when someone searches for one
of the keywords you chose to bid on. Depending on what
your bid was in comparison to the competition's bid has a
great effect on where you rank for that particular keyword.

For example, I choose a bid of $.10 for the keyword
"free traffic," while others bid only $.09 My website was
then placed in the number one position. If, on the other
hand, I paid $.08, I would have ended up in the second
position.

TIP: Make sure you always end up within the top 20 listing
of any search engine. This is very important, due to the
fact that most people won't search past the first or second
page.

How do you find what keywords will best fit your website?

That's a very good question.

...And I have a great answer.

First you want to find your competition so start by using
JimTools.com.

JimTools searches the major search engines for your keywords,
then retrieves each of the top rated pages found and examines
their meta tags and page content to develop a list of words
those sites consider important.

http://www.jimtools.com

Then...

Go to 7Search.com.

7Search searches for related keywords, bids, and estimated
monthly searches for any keyword you plug into it.

http://www.7search.com

Now you should not only have a list of quality keywords to
use, you should also have a good idea of how many times that
keyword gets searched each month.

That bring us to the PPC search engine.

The most popular one is Overture.com. Overture attracts
many searchers and advertisers and presents a perfect
opportunity for a high ranking on a Top 10 search engine.

Now keep in mind, because you can control the keywords
you're found under, your website traffic from the PPC search
engines will yield a higher value of targeted visitors when
compared to the traffic you'll receive by using free search
engines.

Note: Overture.com also distributes its top 3 results on
Altavista, MSN, Yahoo, Lycos, Hotbot and other major search
engines. This means if you're in a top 3 position at Overture,
you might end up getting more click thrus than you expected.

I know what you're probably thinking... what's it going to
cost me?

Well, this what I have found. Most people have to spend
around $100 dollars to get things started, and since they
are so new at this, they are not sure what they're doing.
They either blow their money way too fast, or they don't get
any searches because they haven't picked good keywords.

Now wouldn't it be nice if you could get your feet wet
before you had to jump right in?

Guess what?

You can, and I have found three new PPC search engines that
not only let you join for free, but also deposit $10 dollars
right into your account just to help you get the ball rolling.

I'll be completely honest with you, I had never touched a
PPC search engine until I found these. Not only did I not
completely understand every aspect, I was afraid of losing
all my money.

But now I've learned how they work, how to bid, how to
choose good keywords, and how not to get into bidding
wars :o) (that's a whole other story).

Okay, here they are...

1. ClickToSurf

ClickToSurf is the first and only search engine set up for
websites related to the traffic exchange industry.

2. FindPromote

3. HitKey

Oh! by the way, my favorite search engine besides Google is...

http://www.ixquick.com

As their slogan states, ...
"the world's most powerful metasearch engine!"

Just to recap, PPC search engines...

* Work by letting you bid for your keywords

* Can bring you highly targeted visitors

* Provide instant traffic

If you've been considering PPC search engines, but have
never taken that first step, hopefully the information
I've provided here has given you the courage to begin!
